Tactician's Guide

After signing in you can start a Chess Tactics Server session.

A problem is diplayed with problem to move. The problem moves 6 seconds later.

Now it's your turn. To move click on a piece first - it will be highlighted - then click on the target field - move will be executed. To undo your piece selection click again. Keep attention, problem may move once again !

The Java-Script interface provides neither legality checking of moves nor drag and drop. Everyone is invited to improve it. Please sign in as guest to acclimate !

To reach a good rating it is important to solve the problems quickly. For details see the time regime page. Don't worry about a rating fall in the beginning. Your RD is still high and your rating will increase rapidly (if your performance does).

Please notice, that all received problems will be rated. To terminate a session check the 'my last problem' box. Your session will break after the current problem.

Enjoy !

Chess Tactics Server uses session cookies to track tacticians data. Session cookies are completely benign, despite all the bad press they've gotten. There is absolutely no way a session cookie can harm you or your system. It can't give away any information, it can't let a hacker in, it can't tell who you are, it can't find your credit card numbers, it can't do any other bad things. The only thing it can do is what it was intended to do: help Chess Tactics Server keep track of your performance.
